Originally a one-circle mini quilt for a swap, these droplets got such a vocal reaction of "I need that pattern!" that eventually I caved and created one for a runner. Dewdrops make a big splash within appliqued circles and a contrasting pop of color in the middle finishes the look. Imagine the possibilities for color combinations - orange and pink, black/white/red, good old yellow and blue, or why not try all batiks or Christmas fabrics? It's truly a runner that will take on the color personality of the maker.

There is no piecing at all in this pattern. Instead it focuses on machine applique and what I call "double quilting," wherein the background is quilted first, then the appliques are added, to create the design.

This cool applique pattern uses several notions I own and love, though the pattern does contain alternate cutting directions and printed templates for those who may not own the Hearts and More TM templates or Creative Grids Quick Trim ruler.
