Variegated thread has long been a favorite of quilters for adding some pop and unexpected color to our quilting. I doubt I'm the only one who loves to collect beautiful variegated spools even when I don't have a clue what I will use them to quilt! But then it hit me - Why not use those same spools as fabric pull inspiration? And thus, V is for Variegated was born.
This pattern features 12" blocks pieced to look like variegated thread winding its way across a quilt, color changing as it goes. The blocks can be pieced in three different ways: Traditional Piecing, for a chunkier look (orange and red runner), Accordion Sewn HSTs™ kept in order (cover quilt), and Accordion Sewn HSTs™ mixed up. Full Accordion Sewn HSTs™ directions are included. A scrappily striking easy to piece border finishes the top, then you get to use that wonderful variegated thread for its normally intended purpose - quilting as desired!
